The Korean-market Renault-Samsung partnership has revealed the first images of its new SM7 large sedan, following its unveiling in concept form earlier this year.

Details for the new sedan are still light-on, although the Franco-Korean has confirmed that debut in other markets is not planned. Like the Renault-Samsung SM5-based Latitude however, the SM7 could eventually make its way to the global market.

In production form, the SM7 loses some of the concept's imposing bulk. The four-door coupe style carries over however, with a sweeping character line connecting the wraparound taillights to the outer edge of the headlights.

Entering above the SM5 and based on the Nissan Teana (Maxima) the SM7 will likely continue to offer the same 2.3 litre and 3.5 Nissan VQ engines featured with its predecessor.

Watch this space for news of a wider international launch for the 2012 SM7 sedan.
