Renault has given us a first glimpse of its RS 2027 Vision concept racer, ahead of its official unveiling at the Shanghai Auto Show in a fortnight.
The 2027 follows Renault’s Trezor concept, and is an interpretation of how Formula 1 may look ten years from now - hence the name.
Next to the likes of Ferrari, Honda, Williams and McLaren, Renault is well placed to make such a prediction, with the French carmaker winning several World Driver’s and World Constructor’s Championships as both an engine supplier and manufacturer.
This season marks Renault’s 40th year in F1, and the carmaker says the 2027 is a symbol of its long-term commitment to the sport.
Besides the background, Renault has provided few details of its RS 2027 Vision, including its power unit or future technologies. The company does say that the concept may also preview technology for use in road cars.
More will be revealed when four-time World Driver’s Champion and celebrated Frenchman, Alain Prost, removes the covers in Shanghai later this month. Stay tuned.
