Renault has confirmed reports that it will unbox a special Alpine-branded surprise at this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
Exactly what that surprise will be has yet to be revealed, however, with the carmaker promising only that it will have something special on show.
According to the UK’s Autocar, Renault exterior designer Anthony Lo confirmed that fans “will hear about that from us”, and the report claims that Lo is specifically referencing the new Alpine AS1 sports car.
Last month, French magazine Challenges reported that Renault will use the Le Mans event to offer a first-ever look at the coming Alpine car, although it did not cite a source for its information.
Still, with the AS1’s launch understood to be less than a year away, it appears likely that Renault will reveal at least a concept preview very soon.
That ‘very soon’ could indeed be in Le Mans this week, where Renault will also field its successful Alpine A450b racer.
