Renault's sharp 2013 Megane RS coupe, upgraded to '265' status for Europe earlier this year, is now on sale in Australia.
The RS 265 name comes courtesy of the updated hot hatch's power hike, climbing from 250 to 265 horsepower. In local terms, that's 11kW more power and 20Nm more torque than the outgoing RS 250.
Those keeping score will remember these enhancements from the special Nurburgring-crushing 265 Trophy edition.
For Australia, the RS 265 line-up will start with the $42,640 RS 265 Cup, followed by the $47,140 RS 265 Trophy and the $51,640 top-shelf RS 265 Trophy+.
The Trophy+ is a new trim grade for the line-up, adding features not normally offered with the Megane RS.
A special-edition 'Trophy 8:08' model will also be offered for $49,990 - limited to 100 units in celebration of the car's Nurburgring lap.
Power for the Megane RS 265 is provided by Renault's turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine, delivering a hefty 195kW and 360Nm.
Peak power is available from 5500rpm, and as much as 80 percent of the turbo engine's torque is yours from 1900rpm, hitting the full 360Nm at 3000rpm.
Like its predecessor, the RS 265 is available with a six-speed manual transmission only, pushing power to the front wheels. Fuel consumption is listed at 8.2 l/100km, marking a 5.7 percent reduction.
The extra go in the new 265 edition comes courtesy of increased turbo boost pressure (up 0.2 bar to 2.5) and a revised air intake system.
A new selectable drive system is also included, keeping the car at 184kW and 340Nm in the regular driving mode, and opening up the full 195kW an 360Nm in Sport mode.
In Sport mode, Renault says the Megane RS 265 will hit 100km/h in 6.0 seconds flat, making for a 0.1 second improvement over the RS 250.
The RS 265 also features a limited-slip differential and Renault Sport Technologies steering axis front suspension package, designed to combat torque steer.
Braking is managed by four-piston Brembo brakes and 340mm discs up front, and 290mm discs at the rear.
Now standard across the range is Renault Sport's RS Monitor, offering the ability to navigate through engine and performance data, display G-force data, and record quarter-mile and 0-100km/h times.
Drivers can also select from five throttle modes: snow, progressive, linear, sport and extreme.
In RS 265 Cup form, standard featues include cloth seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers, LED daytime-running lights, rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, audio-streaming Bluetooth connectivity, heated exterior mirrors and a space-saver spare wheel.
The mid-spec RS 265 Trophy adds Recaro front seats in cloth, 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and start, and a tyre pressure monitor.
Range-topping RS 265 Trophy+ models get leather-trimmed and heated seats with power adjustment and memory, a seven-inch display with satellite navigation and reversing camera, bi-xenon directional headlights, a fixed glass roof and front parking sensors.
Buyers quick enough to snap up the mid-priced RS 265 8:08 model will get 19-inch wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres, leather Recaro seats and bi-xenon directional lights. Two unique colours will also be offered with this variant: Liquid Yellow and Pearl White.
