Is Renault planning a surprise for Alpine enthusiasts at this year's Paris Motor Show?

In an interview with Autocar, Renault’s design chief Laurens van den Acker suggested that it “would be remiss not to do something” in reference to celebrating the Alpine A110’s 50th Anniversary.

By “something," van den Acker could be referring to a modern interpretation of the Alpine A110 Berlinette, or at the very least an Apline flavoured concept, that would logically make its debut this year in Paris.

Whether the Alpine concept will make the transition to a production vehicle is uncertain. “These things live by the grace of day,” was van den Acker’s response when the inevitable question was asked.

Renault’s marketing chief, Steve Norman, went on to say, “We have to ask: Is there room in today’s car market to build something that could be compared to a Porsche?'”

Reading between the lines, if and when we see it, we should enjoy Renault’s modern day salute to Alpine, but not get too excited by the prospect of it entering production.
