Following the launch this week of the all-new 2011 Latitude sedan, Renault Australia has announced a new five-year, unlimited-kilometre factory warranty.
The new warranty, the longest offered by any European brand, applies to passenger vehicles sold after April 1, 2011.
"We see the five-year warranty, coupled with this exceptional value proposition of our young range of modern, attainable vehicles, as adding a fundamental benefit to customers who are considering the purchase of a new Renault,” Justin Hocevar, Managing Director of Renault Australia said.
“This follows the strategic decision to dramatically improve the value proposition and competitiveness of new Renault models introduced into the Australian market over past six months."
“We are taking a firm leadership position as the first European brand to offer a five-year warranty. This underlines our commitment to this market and to our customers.
Renault is also providing five-years of 24/7 roadside assistance.
Specific to the 'regular' passenger vehicle line-up, the new warranty does not cover Renault's RS sports models or its Light Commercial Vehicle range.
The RS line-up continues with the existing three-year/100,000km warranty, and LCV vehicles maintain the existing three-year/150,000km warranty.
In terms of length, Renault's new warranty brings the brand in-line with the likes of Mitsubishi, which offers a five-year/130,000km warranty across its entire range, combined with a 10-year/160,000km powertrain warranty.
Hyundai and Kia both also offer impressive deals. New passenger cars from both companies get a five-year/unlimited-km warranty, while Hyundai's commercial vehicles get a five-year/160,000km. Kia's commercial vehicles get a five-year/130,000km warranty.
Mr Hocevar acknowledged that while there has been a perception in the past that Renault reliability "was not great," he said that the formation of the Renault-Nissan Alliance has seen warranty claims fall dramatically.
“There is a business case behind this offer and it is built on the facts of modern generation Renault reliability," he added.
