Renault has confirmed that it will reveal a new concept at this week's Monaco F1 Grand Prix, and a teaser video hints at what's to come.

While the video reveals little, one thing is clear: despite the poor image editing, the tell-all Alpine image that surfaced this week is the real deal.

TMR declared it a fake (someone in Renault's photo-editing office needs a caning), but we'll admit to being pleased to be wrong on this one.

Announcing its plans today, Renault said that old fans can expect to have their memories stirred by the new concept, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary "of an emblematic Renault vehicle".

The Alpine name is mentioned nowhere, but that car can be none other than the iconic A110, launched in 1962 and produced through to 1977.

Renault also promises power in the range of 300kW, and reports have pointed to Nissan's 3.5 litre V6 in a mid-mounted configuration.

Producing less than 200kW in its current Maxima-driving form, some form of forced induction would be likely.

Whatever the French carmaker has planned, we'll know soon enough.
