Toyota has extended a recall issued last month concerning the ongoing Takata airbag saga.
The initial recall covered 181,000 cars in Australia, including Corolla, Yaris, Echo, RAV4 and Avensis models built between May 2003 and March 2007.
Around 45,000 of these were for Yaris models, but Toyota has now extended the ‘end’ date from March 2007 to December 2008.
The same extension has also been applied to the Avensis.
Toyota joins Nissan, Honda, Subaru and Mazda in recalling models in Australia due to potentially faulty Takata airbags.
Kia is recalling its new Carnival people-mover that arrived in Australia early this year, due to a potential brake problem.
