Toyota has issued a second recall over potential airbag faults, following an initial recall in April last year.

Around 2.27 million vehicles have been recalled worldwide, with around 19,600 of those belonging to customers in Australia.

Most of the vehicles covered in the 2013 recall have been recalled again, as Toyota believes that some may have been missed during the initial recall and is “modifying the remedy procedure”.

Front-passenger airbag inflators in the affected models contain improperly manufactured propellant and could rupture, causing the airbag to inflate abnormally during a collision.
