Land Rover has confirmed that its new Range Rover Sport SVR, teased extensively over the past month, will debut this month.

Hosting the new performance SUV’s unveiling will be the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California, to be held on August 14.

Previous unveilings at Pebble Beach have included the big Cadillac Ciel and Elmiraj concepts, BMW’s Z4 Zagato, and the McLaren X-1 concept.

With such a glamorous list of premieres, Pebble Beach would seem to be the perfect place to unveil Land Rover’s fastest-ever offering.

In fact, that title could read ‘fastest-ever SUV, period’, with Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations arm boasting of a new record at the famed Nurburgring, where the RR Sport SVR last month locked in a 8m14s lap. (Catch the video here.)

Power in the Range Rover Sport SVR is provided by Jaguar Land Rover’s 404kW 5.0 litre supercharged V8 - the same unit that powers the new F-TYPE Coupe R.
