Though the Range Rover Sport SVR isn't due to land in Australia until the second quarter of 2015, the British automaker has decided to release a video of its upcoming super-SUV getting sideways as an early Christmas present to its fans.

Driven by expert driver and JLR chief engineer Mike Cross, the SVR displays plenty of opposite-lock as it skids across the slightly damp surface of the UK's Rockingham circuit, most of the time in gratuitous slow-mo.

What makes it so lively?

Well, having the 404kW/680Nm supercharged 5.0 litre V8 from the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R under its bonnet certainly gives it enough muscle to break traction, though there's also torque vectoring and a performance-oriented stability control mode to help things along.
