Photoshop wizards PS-Garage have taken a swing at rendering a high-performance version of Range Rover's new Evoque SUV, following reports that the so-called Evoque R is on the way.

The Jaguar Land Rover group has no shortage of powerful engines up its sleeve. If new reports out of Europe are to be believed, its new 250kW supercharged V6 could soon headline the Evoque range.

How the small SUV would accommodate the big six is uncertain, but, according to Autoblog.nl, Land Rover is looking at shoehorning it into a new Evoque R flagship.

Rivals for the hi-po Evoque would include BMW's X1, available in the US-market debut with the carmaker's trusty 225kW turbo six, along with the upcoming Porsche Macan and Audi's new 230kW diesel-powered SQ5.

Earlier reports pointed to an enhanced version of the Evoque's Ford-derived 177kW 2.0 litre turbocharged engine - already revealed to produce 188kW and 366Nm in Ford's upcoming Focus ST hotbox.

“For the moment, we’re looking at the cabriolet and special editions – we could do a more overtly sporty one, for example”, design boss Gerry McGovern said at the Beijing Motor Show earlier this year.

“You can go too far with the Evoque, but what’s so right about the car is it has what I call killer proportions."

British magazine AutoExpress reports that Land Rover insiders have confirmed that a more powerful model is under consideration, but for now we can only speculate on what would drive it.
