Range Rover has dramatically reorganised its Evoque line-up for the 2016 model year, slashing the number of model variants from a whopping 24 (46 if you count automatic versions) to 'just' 14.

There's also the marque's all-new home-grown Ingenium diesel engine and more standard equipment, though the price of entry has been lifted to $51,995 - a jump of $2000.

There are four powertrain variants and two transmissions available, though the six-speed manual is now only available in two entry-level models: the eD4 Pure and the Td4 150 Pure. All others receive a 9 Spd automatic as standard.

The eD4 Pure five-door is also the sole two-wheel drive offering in the range, a stark contrast to the six offered in the MY15 line-up.

Meanwhile the three-door Evoque "coupe" - formerly one of the most affordable in the Evoque range - is now positioned as an AWD-only premium bodystyle, with prices now starting at $73,495 for the Td4 180 HSE three-door.

There are now four models in total in the Evoque coupe range, the diesel Td4 180 HSE and Td4 180 HSE Dynamic, and the petrol Si4 HSE and Si4 HSE Dynamic. In the MY15 three-door line-up, there were 12 variants available.

A wider range of engines are available in the five-door range, with a 2.2 turbo diesel, 2.0 turbo petrol, and a pair of all-new 2.0 litre turbo diesel Ingenium engines.

The base 110kW/380Nm eD4 is available exclusively as a manual front-wheel drive model and is largely carry-over, as is the Si4's 177kW/340Nm 2.0 litre turbo petrol.

The Ingenium engines are offered in two trims: the Td4 150 that makes 110kW/380Nm and drinks as little as 4.4 l/100km, and the Td4 180, a higher-output version that cranks out 132kW/430Nm and consumes 4.8 l/100km

There's more than a few visual cues to separate the MY16 Evoque range from the current model year, with two new grill designs four new alloy wheel designs, optional full-LED headlamps and indicators that are integrated with the LED daytime running lamps.

Buyers can also select a sportier Dynamic bodykit, should they prefer a more atheletic appearance for their Evoque.

Inside there are new seats and door cards plus a revised instrument binnacle, all surrounded by new soft-touch materials designed to impart a more luxurious feel.

Four spec grades are offered, with the Pure Tech and Prestige grades renamed to SE and HSE in the MY15 range. Buyers can now choose from the base Pure through the mid-grade SE and HSE to the high-spec HSE Dynamic grades.

And though prices have generally risen, there's new equipment across the board. See the below list for a full rundown of what's new in each grade.
