In a widely-anticipated move, Melbourne-based Prodrive Racing Australia has confirmed it is bringing the Ford performance name Tickford back ‘Downunder’.

First-up is a trick-looking Tickford Ford Ranger (available now) which will be followed by versions for the Mustang and Everest.

The first Tickford Modification Centre has already opened its doors at the Prodrive Racing Australia HQ in Glenbarry Drive, Campbellfield - the Sydney operation is due to open within weeks and will be followed by a centre in Brisbane.

Tickford's enhancements for the Ford Ranger can be ordered separately and include an upgraded engine, suspension and wheel/tyre packages as well as interior and exterior enhancements.

Naturally Tickford and Ford warranties ensure peace of mind for customers.

Most obvious in the pics are the exterior changes which include a Tickford grille (a different look to the currently popular Raptor-style grille), side steps and the bold Tickford lettering for the tailgate.

As for performance, Tickford is claiming 15 percent more power and 20 percent more torque from Ford’s already punchy 3.2-litre, five-cylinder turbo-diesel.

The upgrade kit ($7995) - including a re-tuned ECU, 2.5-inch side exhaust, intercooler and more - can be fitted to both current and previous generation Ford Rangers.

Underneath, the suspension and wheel/tyre upgrade ($4530) includes Bilstein dampers, King springs and 20-inch wheels - with Goodyear Wrangler tyres and muscly-looking wheel-arch flares. An optional two-inch lift kit is available for those seeking extra off-road agility.

For the interior, Tickford offers its own leather seats (front and rear) and - for non-Wildtrack models - matching leather door trims and a leather-trimmed centre console. On the options list are a handsome suede/perforated leather sports steering wheel and Tickford aluminium side sills.

All modifications comply with airbag operation, pedestrian safety and have received the various approvals from regulatory bodies including Australian Design Rules.
