Powderfinger Legend Gets Behind Wheel Of Aussie Racing Car
FW1 Aussie Racing Car drivers were out in force at Queensland Raceway on 5 August 2011 for an official test day in the lead up to Round 4 of the series, which will take place next week at the Ipswich 300 V8 Supercar event.
Powderfinger bass guitarist and rock superstar John "JC" Collins has announced he will compete in Round 4 of the FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Super Series, driving the number 4 factory-prepared Commodore Aussie Racing Car.
John attended the official test day to get behind the wheel of an Aussie Racing Car for the first time, to see how the pocket rockets perform.
Former V8 Supercar driver Craig Baird was on-hand to provide driver training and share his race knowledge. Collins impressed the Series regulars, laying down impressive lap times and showing significant improvement in speed over the course of the day.
“The FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Super Series has gone from strength to strength in 2011. We've attended renowned motorsports events, fielded the biggest grids of any major Australian championship, developed partnerships with high profile sponsors, and we're gaining support from well-known celebrities who are interested in competing in the Series," Aussie Racing Cars Managing Director Brad Ward said.
“We're really excited that John Collins has chosen the FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Series for his first ever circuit racing experience and we can’t wait to see him in action at Queensland Raceway,”
Other celebrities participating in the FW1 Aussie Racing Cars Series include Supercar Showdown competitor, model and driver Hayley Swanson and go cart champion turned Aussie Racing Cars professional driver, David Sera, who also competed in the TV show.
“The test day was a great opportunity to get back in to the race cars and build our speed in preparation for what is looking to be the series' biggest round ever. I’m really pumped,” Hayley said.
Round 4 of the Aussie Racing Car Super Series will run from August 19 to August 21.
