First reported last year, the model is is reportedly known as the 960, but its engineers have given it another name: ‘Fefi’, short for Ferrari fighter.
With the 918 an obvious rival for the F12, it is likely that the 960 will tackle the 458.
British magazine Car claims that the 960 will use a new Volkswagen Group mid-engined platform known internally as MSB-M, a rear-engine version of which will reportedly replace the current 911 in 2018.
The report adds that Volkswagen has yet to approve the new platform however, with the finger pointed at a lack of support from stablemate Audi.
Apart from the platform obstacles, power for the 960 is touted to come from a high-powered twin-turbo flat six, with earlier V8 plans reportedly ruled out on the grounds of cost cutting.
Porsche is yet to confirm any details, and for now, we suggest you take these reports with a grain of salt.
