There's little left to know about Porsche's new 918 Spyder hybrid, with pricing and mechanical details portioned out over the past two years.

Now there's one item less on the carmaker's list of 'To Be Confirmed' tidbits, with news this week that the 918 will make its production debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week.

The 918 Spyder debuted as a concept way back in 2010 - well before the LaFerrari and McLaren P1 hybrids had appeared - with its future hanging on the desires and cheque books of potential buyers.

That question was soon answered, with hundreds of well-heeled fans placing deposits in the following weeks. Only 918 cars will be offered, and there's little doubt that Porsche will sell them all.

Need a refresher on the 918's credentials?

Driving the rear wheels of the 918 is a a 447kW V8, partnered with a 115kW electric motor. And there's another 95kW electric motor driving the front wheels.

Together, Porsche claims a combined 653kW will be available, with a 0-100km/h time of just 2.8 seconds. And the carmaker reckons fuel consumption is as low as 3.0 l/100Km.
