Porsche is reportedly preparing to launch a long-wheelbase version of its Panamera sports sedan, offering improved comfort for buyers with a preference for the back seat and a chauffeur.
According to the UK's Car magazine, demand for the longer Panamera has come both from European and Chinese buyers, the latter where limousine-style offerings are in high demand.
The magazine claims that Porsche insiders have confirmed that the stretched Panamera is very close, with an early 2012 debut reportedly locked in.
Talk of a more spacious Panamera follows rumours earlier this year that Porsche is also considering a smaller four-door, giving the company a competitor for BMW's 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
Launched in 2009, a styling update for the large saloon is also expected in the not-too-distant future, with reports pointing to a 2013 update.
Whether there's any truth to these reports remains unclear, but with Volkswagen pushing Porsche to make a greater contribution to the group's sales figures, the German sports and luxury brand is easy pickings for the rumour mill.
