2014 PORSCHE MACAN
The most revealing look at the new midsized luxury SUV comes in the form of two teaser sketches, offering a streamlined vision of what we'll see next month.
The short video clip opens with scenes from previous Porsche campaigns, before leading into footage of lightly camouflaged Macan test cars tearing across a sand dune.
As expected, the teasers show that the Macan will borrow much of the larger Cayenne's look, including the familiar glasshouse, simple body lines and fat haunches.
These first teasers come on the tail of new details that surfaced online last week, outlining key details for the Macan's expected powertrain options.
In a set of leaked 'tech spec' slides, it was revealed that buyers can look forward to a pair of turbocharged six-cylinder engines.
In the Macan S, that will mean a 3.0 litre unit, while the Macan Turbo will get a 3.6 litre engine - possibly the same Volkswagen-sourced engine found in the Cayenne.
And, while the leaked slides don't mention it, we can likely expect a less powerful base model to enter the Macan range sometime after launch.
Set to enter production in December, the Macan will share a platform with the Audi Q5, and power is expected to be sent to all four wheels on all Macan models, via a version of the Quattro system used in the Q5.
Watch for more details to come with next month's big unveiling.
