It seems Porsche may have missed the memo from Jaguar Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth last month - the German carmaker is reportedly planning to commence legal action in China for breach of its copyright.

Speth said carmakers were powerless when it comes to Chinese brands ripping off their design work, after JLR attempted to take Chinese carmaker Land Wind to task over its X7 SUV - which is somewhat ‘inspired’ by the Range Rover Evoque.

China’s legal system saw differently, and the X7 continues to sell in the Chinese market for around AU$50,000 less than the Evoque.

Despite this outcome, and numerous failures by other ‘western’ carmakers to stop their Chinese counterparts from selling similarly-styled models, Porsche is said to be mounting a challenge anyway.

The subject is Porsche’s Macan SUV, and the opponent is China’s Zotye Automobile and its T700 SUV.
