Porsche Denies Future Tesla Model S Rival: Report

Rumours Porsche was working on an all-electric, four-door sedan to rival the Tesla Model S are apparently untrue.

Autocar reported in October that the expected lift-back model, based on the Panamera Sport Turismo concept and dubbed ‘Pajun’ in the press (for ‘Panamera Junior’), would offer an all-electric version.

But unlike the Model S, the new Porsche sedan was also expected to offer petrol and diesel engines when (or if) it eventually appeared in showrooms.

Now, the same UK mag has revealed Porsche development boss Wolfgang Hatz has dismissed the reports, saying an all-electric version isn’t possible at present.

The Pajun is still rumoured to debut in 2016 alongside the new Panamera, but an all-electric power train won’t be offered in either model.
