Porsche Cayenne S V8 Diesel On Sale In Australia

Porsche has introduced a powerful new up-spec Cayenne S V8 Diesel model, entering the Australian range between the S petrol and S Hybrid variants. 

Driven by a 4.2 litre twin-turbo eight-cylinder diesel, the Cayenne S Diesel delivers 281kW and 850Nm of torque. By comparison, the regular 3.0 litre six-cylinder Cayenne Diesel offers 176kW and 550Nm. 

A 0-100km/h time of 5.7 seconds is promised, with fuel consumption listed at a low 8.3 l/100km. This means that while the new model cuts nearly two seconds from the entry diesel's sprint, fuel use increases by only half a litre. 

Porsche says the diesel V8 and its 100 litre fuel tank will give buyers a driving range of around 1200 kilometres between stops.

Matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive, the big diesel offers a 3.5 tonne towing capacity - identical to the Volkswagen Touareg V8 diesel. (Not currently offered in Australia.)
