American pricing for the upcoming 918 Spyder hybrid supercar’s has been revealed, courtesy of Porsche USA’s official 2013 price bulletin.
Entering at almost exactly ten times the price as a US-market 911 Carrera (US$84,300), the 918 Spyder will take buyers for a cool US$845,000 - before on-roads.
The bulletin also confirms the US pricing of the optional Weissach package, which at US$84,000 will lighten the 918 by 34kg, removing the entertainment system, air conditioning, door storage and armrests.
At current exchange rates, the base US figure equates to €634,291 - near enough to the 918’s €645,000 European pricing announced in March 2011.
The US price comes to around AU$800,000. If you're interested, that figure will attract nearly half-a-million dollars in additional GST, LCT, and import duty for Australian buyers.
Given the 918 Spyder will be exclusively built in left-hand drive, and therefore unable to be registered in Australia, local take-up is expected to be limited.
The new supercar will be the first to use a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, combining a 4.6 litre V8 and dual electric motors to produce upwards of 575kW.
Porsche has suggested this will result in 3.2 second 0-100km/h acceleration, a 320km/h top speed, and fuel economy in the vicinity of 3.0l/100km.
For those in the market, production is set to commence in September this year, with European and US deliveries expected soon after. Production will be capped at an uncoincidental 918 units.
