Porsche is reportedly planning yet another version of the 911, but this one might strike a chord with a new audience.

The new model is rumoured to carry the name ‘911 GT’, and will focus solely on the driving experience for genuine enthusiasts; rather than a list of impressive numbers or lap times.

UK mag Autocar reports that the new model is distinctly different from the other 911 ‘GT’ models, such as the GT3 and GT3 RS (pictured, top of page), with features designed more for the on-road experience.

Porsche’s 911 GT3 squad would likely remain track-focused models, while the 911 GT would sit just below the GT3 in the German carmaker’s 911 line-up if it is built.

While the GT would target a different audience, power could still come from a version of the naturally-aspirated 3.8 litre flat six-cylinder engine used in the GT3, rather than the 3.4 litre unit powering other 911 models.
