Styling house Pininfarina will unveil a new concept at next month's Geneva Motor Show, developed as a tribute to the company's legendary designer.

Dubbed simply 'Sergio', the new sports concept will honour the memory of Sergio Pininfarina, who took over his father Battista's company when the senior Farina passed away in 1966.

Sergio, himself responsible for overseeing the design of many iconic Ferrari models, worked as Chairman of Pininfarina until his death last July.

The company has not revealed details of the new concept, although it promises the show car will embrace Sergio's creative genius, drawing inspiration from the designer's "extraordinary achievements".

"Its name is SERGIO and represents a tribute to Sergio Pininfarina, the man who created cars which entered the legend," the company said in a statement.

"A concept car which renews the spirit of the extraordinary achievements born from Sergio Pininfarina’s pencil, translating it into a modern vision in the name of exclusivity, innovation and passion."

The concept will be Pininfarina's first show car since Sergio's passing. The last design study to be developed on his watch was the Cambiano, revealed in February last year.
