Another week, another wild addition to the growing stable of futuristic supercars doing battle in Sony and Polyphony Digital’s Vision Gran Turismo.
Celebrating 15 years of the PlayStation-based Gran Turismo racing simulator series, Vision GT has welcomed virtual concepts from just about every premium and volume-selling carmaker.
Peugeot’s new entrant, named simply Vision Gran Turismo, is a supercar that builds on the French brand’s latest themes - and dials it up to 652kW.
That figure, which amounts to 875hp in the old language, comes from an unspecified 3.2 litre turbo petrol V6.
Peugeot notes that, with the Vision GT tipping the scales at 875kg, its imperial power figure and metric heft measurement equals a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio.
Combined with an all-wheel-drive system, the virtual supercar’s big turbo six claims a chest-mashing 0-100km/h time of just 1.73 seconds.
Don’t expect any of this to signal plans for a new hero model out here in the real world, though.
The carmaker has been clear in recent months that while it will continue to produce performance offerings, it’s done with dedicated sports cars.
“Our brands need sports cars, but they’ll be more sporty derivatives than bespoke models,” Peugeot Citroen boss Carlos Tavares told the UK’s Auto Express in September.
Take heart, lion fans: Peugeot has confirmed it’s working on a new 308 GTi hatch. So, while there’s no new RCZ on the horizon, there’s fun on the way.
