Peugeot has handed down a new teaser video that previews an upcoming sports concept.
For now, the company is referring to the new concept only as its ‘Mystery Concept Car’, although the video reveals that we can expect a sporting ‘GT’ car.
Little else has been revealed, although scenes in the video depict artists sketching and digitally rendering the new show car.
It is unlikely however that this new concept will represent a preview of any production performance hero, with Peugeot-Citroen boss Carlos Tavares confirming last year that purpose-built sports models are off the menu.
“Our brands need sports cars, but they’ll be more sporty derivatives than bespoke models,” Tavares told Auto Express in September.
The concept may instead appear in the Vision Gran Turismo racing simulator, which has so far seen dozens of futuristic sports concepts revealed by most of the world’s biggest carmakers.
Peugeot has revealed a number of super-styled concepts in past years, the most recent being its 500kW Onyx hybrid supercar (above), unveiled in 2012.
Apart from the RCZ, however, Peugeot has largely steered clear of producing any dedicated two-door coupe heroes.
Watch for this latest mystery concept to appear… “soon”.
