Peugeot has released a teaser image this week of a sleek concept draped (or vacuum-packed... - Ed) in silk, hinting at an upmarket new offering.

Destined for April's Beijing Auto Show, the new show-car will build on the styling introduced with the powerful Onyx concept, utilising many of the same carbon and recycled materials.

Peugeot says the concept will offer seating for four, although it is unclear if the design will feature a two-door or four-door coupe arrangement.

At 4.73m long and 1.31m tall, the new concept will be a rival for BMW's 6 Series range - but with slightly more compact dimensions creating a more sporting profile.

The French carmaker hasn't offered any details on the new concept's powertrain, although we could expect to see an evolution of the 507kW diesel-electric Hybrid4 setup that starred in the Onyx.

Could we see this new Pug in showrooms? Peugeot says it is pushing further upmarket to take on the established premium players, so a production debut for this concept may not be out of the question.
