Peugeot has released the first official images of the 208 GTi-based racers it will enter in the 2013 Pikes Peak hillclimb and Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race.
The 208 T16 Pikes Peak racer is by far the more extreme of the two, and will be driven by French rally ace Sebastien Loeb in the June hillclimb event.
Entered in the Unlimited class with the goal of outright victory, the 208 T16 shares little with its roadgoing namesake aside from the basic silhouette of its body.
Instead, it cloaks a bespoke spaceframe chassis with a carbon fibre body, elaborate aero package, and a central driver position.
Peugeot is yet to release technical details, but an all-wheel drivetrain and mid-engine layout are expected.
Far closer to the upcoming 208 GTi road car are the two racers Peugeot will enter in the Nürburgring 24 hour endurance race next month.
Bona-fide racers, the 224kW (up from 147kW) GTi’s will compete in the SP2T category.
The team’s eight drivers have all been selected from the 208 GTi Racing Experience program in Europe.
Further details of the Pikes Peak 208 racer are due in the coming hours, so keep an eye on TMR for any updates.
