Peugeot's extra-spicy 308 R concept could be moving closer to a production debut, if reports out of the UK are to be believed.
Revealed in Frankfurt this month, the 308 R packs the now-familiar 199kW version of Peugeot's 1.6 turbo engine into the new 308 hatch, creating a potential new contender at the top end of the hot-hatch market.
Now, according to the UK's Top Gear magazine, Peugeot boss Maxime Picat has hinted at a showroom future for the R hatch.
In concept form, the 308 R also packs a six-speed manual, the RCZ R's Torsen limited slip differential and a 30mm wider front track.
Peugeot hasn't said, but we reckon the 308 R would also match the RCZ R's 5.9 second 0-100km/h time.
In the meantime, we should soon see a new 308 GTI, with recent spy photos revealing that development is now well underway.
