French automotive brands Peugeot and Citroen have announced a combined recall for the Peugeot 308, Peugeot 508, Citroen C5, DS 4, and DS 5 range of vehicles.

The recall action concerns a starter motor electrical connection which may be incorrectly fitted, this could lead to the connection coming in contact with metal components under the bonnet, leading to a short circuit which poses a potential fire risk.

Affected Peugeot vehicles were offered for sale in Australia from November 2014 until March 2017 while Citroen and DS vehicles were sold between May 2015 and August 2016. A total of 85 Citroen and DS vehicles are involved in the recall, with 1053 Peugeot cars on the recall list.
