Peugeot has pegged its new 301 small sedan as an affordable car for global markets, but is there potential for more variants in the 301 line?

That question has moved designer Khalil Bouguerra to imagine a high-riding crossover version of the new light car.

Inspired by the existing 508 RXH, Bouguerra's jacked-up 301 RXH gets a Touring wagon body, hard-wearing plastic guards and skid plates, and larger five-spoke wheels.

Adding a little upmarket flavour, this rendered concept picks up a chrome trimmed glass house, along with extra chrome in the bottom grille and LED daytime running lights.

Could a 301 RXH be on the cards? We can only speculate for now, but with crossover variants proving popular in Europe, and with the 301's global schedule including a number of emerging markets, a high-riding SUV-like model isn't hard to imagine.

In the meantime, we can likely expect to see a production version of Peugeot's recent Urban Crossover Concept, possibly badged as the 2008.

Australia

As for Australia, Peugeot Australia's Jaedene Hudson has confirmed that with the 301 currently only confirmed for left-hand-drive markets, it is unclear when or if we will see this new light sedan here.
