Peugeot has officially revealed its upcoming 2008 compact SUV, ahead of a public debut at March’s Geneva Motor Show.

Images of the new model surfaced just last week, but Peugeot has now officially confirmed the production version of the earlier Urban Crossover and 2008 Design Study concepts.

Sitting beneath the existing 3008, 4007, and 4008 crossover/SUVs, the 208 hatch-based 2008 will compete with the likes of Nissan’s Juke, and the upcoming Ford EcoSport and Opel Mokka/Holden Trax models.

Unsurprisingly, the 2008’s styling is largely contemporary Peugeot, but with details most closely linking the new crossover to its 208 light car platform cousin.

Overall length grows 200mm over the 208 to 4160mm, with an increased ride height and more upright overall profile cementing its “urban crossover” status.

Specific 2008 driveline details are yet to be confirmed, but Peugeot has confirmed that its new three-cylinder petrol and e-HDi diesel engines will feature.
