The Paris Motor Show, along with those hosted in Geneva, Frankfurt and New York, is among the motoring world's most important events. This year is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet.

The past decade has seen the City of Light play host to major unveilings from across the automotive spectrum, from the Ferrari 430, the sublime first Mercedes-Benz CLS, to the sixth-generation Golf.

All three of those cars have welcomed replacements in the years since, and the new Golf, revealed earlier this month, will make its motor show premiere in Paris this weekend.

A number of carmakers have already confirmed or revealed new concepts and production models ahead of this year's show, and more than a few are rumoured to be planning something special. Read on for a look at what to expect.
