Months ahead of its official launch, more than 100 Australian orders have been secured for Alfa Romeo’s racy all-new Giulia QV high-performance sedan.

Alfa’s 375kW/600Nm twin-turbo V6 rear-drive rocket stopped the clocks at 7mins 32secs when test driver Fabio Francia lapped Germany’s Nurburgring circuit in September – claimed to be a new record for a production sedan.

Driving via a sporty eight-speed automatic transmission with sequential manual operation, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV covers zero to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds – one-tenth faster than the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG S.

With extensive use of carbon-fibre to keep weight down and an active front splitter which lowers at speed for enhanced aerodynamics, these are just part of the technology package which Alfa hopes will take the Giulia QV onto the same page as its German rivals.

There’s also active chassis dynamics courtesy of the next-generation DNA Pro dynamic drive system.
