Opel has joined the light crossover brigade this week, unveiling its new Adam Rocks concept at the Geneva Motor Show.

Teased in sketches last month, the Rocks is based on Opel's brand-new Adam hatch, adding an assortment of rugged-style body bits to create a mini SUV look.

Opel isn't the first to attempt the light-hatch-cum-crossover leap, but if the Rocks makes its way to production, it should make a stylish alternative to the (slightly) larger Mokka.

Setting the Rocks apart from its Adam sibling, the concept picks up a set of black bolt-on flares and bumpers at both ends.

A roll-back fabric roof, large five-spoke sports wheels, LED fog lamps and a centre-mounted exhaust round out the styling tweaks.

The Rocks rides 15mm higher than the regular model, while those fat wheels and flared over-fenders gives the little faux-crossover an extra 20mm in width.
