The Victorian arm of the Royal District Nursing Service (RDNS) will soon count electric cars among its fleet of home-visit vehicles.

As part of a new two-year partnership with the RACV, eight Nissan Leaf hatches will join the RDNS fleet, along with a number of green-energy charging stations.

RDNS Chief Executive Adjunct Professor Stephen Muggleton said the trial will help the service explorer the benefits of electric vehicles in covering around 10 million kilometres each year.
