Drivers in New South Wales will soon have the option of renewing their licences for ten years, bringing the state into line with Victoria and South Australia.

The current maximum renewal in NSW is five years; a maximum also enforced by the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory.

Only NSW drivers aged between 21 and 44 years will be eligible for a ten-year licence from its inception, with the first ten-year renewals available from Q1 next year.
