Worryingly, the number of fines issued has been increasing each year since new national laws were introduced in 2010.
In New South Wales alone, fines for using the wrong restraint or incorrectly fitting a restraint are expected to top 4000 in 2013.

“If we can draw attention to the importance of selecting and fitting a child restraint correctly and parents take action, there is no reason why the number of child restraint offences should start falling in 2014,” Ms Machin said.
