A new survey by NRMA Insurance has exposed a disconcerting lack of knowledge among Australian drivers regarding car safety technology.

The survey revealed that while 95 percent of Australian drivers claim safety is their first priority, only one in 10 drivers consider themselves truly knowledgeable about car safety.

Awareness concerning basic safety technologies was also low. Less than 30 percent of the people surveyed knew what ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) was, while just 20 percent knew that ESC stands for Electronic Stability Control.
