Nissan Teases New Terrano SUV

Nissan's Pulsar badge isn't the only one making a comeback, with news this week that the Japanese carmaker will soon revive the Terrano name.

But, while the old Australian-delivered Terrano was a midsized 4WD, this new one is expected to debut as a Nissan-badged version of the Dacia Duster.

Unveiled in 2009, the Dacia Duster is a small SUV related to Nissan's own Australia-bound Juke, with both models developed as part of the larger Renault Nissan alliance.

Details for the new Terrano are thin on the ground, although a single illustration issued today highlights the extent of the Dacia's Nissan makeover.

As with the brand-new Pathfinder and the recent Hi-Cross concept (expected to be the next X-Trail), the new Terrano will feature Nissan's broad chrome-framed grille and new tapered headlight design.

Along with this illustration, a pair of purportedly official patent renderings have surfaced online, revealing the front and rear styling of the final production model.

Whether we'll see the new Terrano in Australia is unclear and, for now, only an Indian debut has been confirmed.

With the Dualis already here, and the Juke on its way later this year, Nissan's Australian arm would appear to have its small and compact SUV bases covered.
