Nissan will reportedly add an “iconic” design to its range in various markets, as a replacement for the ‘love-it-or-hate-it’ Cube and Murano CrossCabriolet.

Speaking with industry paper Automotive News, Chief Planning Officer Andy Palmer reportedly said Nissan needs another ‘head-turner’ to reinforce its commitment to cutting-edge styling.

Palmer said despite the lack of sales success for either the Cube or the convertible version of the Murano, the Japanese carmaker needs to fill the styling void left behind as the two models are discontinued.

“To be clear, we will morph this space in our portfolio into something iconic,” Palmer said in an email. “The space is held to make sure we have something iconic.”
