Nissan is sending-off the Y61 Patrol wagon with a feature-laden limited edition ‘Legend’ model.
Unique to Australia, only 300 Nissan Patrol Y61 Legends will be made and they’re offered at ‘Driveaway’ prices - $57,990 (five-speed manual) and $60,990 (four-speed automatic).
Available in three colours – ‘White Diamond’, ‘Polar White’ and ‘Platinum’ – the Nissan Patrol Y61 Legend is especially good value thanks to more than $10,000 worth of extra kit which is included as standard.
The extras include a heavy-duty airbag-compatible steel bullbar, front electric winch, tow-bar, satellite navigation, a rear-view camera, roof rack, snorkel and spare wheel cover.
And here’s a quick refresher on some of the attributes which have helped the Y61 Nissan Patrol become a legend amongst those private and commercial buyers who demand a lot from their full-size 4WD: massive braked towing capacity (3,200kgs for the manual and 2,500kgs for the auto), 95-litre main fuel tank and 30-litre sub-tank, 2.02:1 low ratio transfer case, automatic locking free-wheeling front hubs, rear differential lock, three-link coil-sprung front suspension and a five-link coil-sprung rear.
And while Nissan bids adieu to the Y61 model, thanks to the change in specifications and prices the remaining Y62 Patrol is now competitively priced, starting from $69,990 – but is exclusively powered by the 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine.
