Nissan has issued a recall for its Pathfinder SUV, due to a potential problem with a brake pedal switch.
The switch activates the vehicle’s brake lights, and an incorrect installation during the manufacturing process may cause the switch to malfunction.
In this instance, the brake lights will remain permanently illuminated, causing confusion and a potential hazard to other road users.
Also, the switch controls the safety locking mechanism for the automatic transmission, meaning vehicle occupants may be able to move the shifter from ‘Park’ without depressing the brake pedal.
Affected vehicles were built in May 2013, and the recall targets just three Pathfinder examples in Australia.
