Judged by an international panel on the basis of its off-road capability, on-road ability, durability, load and towing capacity, the NP300 Navara edged out the updated Ford Ranger and new Mitsubishi Triton.
“This prestigious award celebrates Nissan’s 80 years of pick-up expertise.” Nissan LCV corporate vice president, Philippe Guérin-Boutaud, said.
“It is truly an honour to be selected as the International Pickup of the Year by a panel of the most experienced commercial vehicle journalists across Europe.”
Nissan’s SUV-like cabin and multi-link suspension (dual-cab ute) received praise from the judging panel.
While the new Navara has been on sale in Australia as a dual-cab since the middle of the year, single and extra-cab models have just recently joined the range.
Europe’s NP300 Navara production kicked off this month in Barcelona, but Australian delivered Navaras are sourced from Thailand.
