Nissan's perky motorcycle-inspired Juke crossover is on its way at last, the carmaker has confirmed at this week's Australian International Motor Show.

The news follows confirmation to TMR earlier this year that a brief glimpse of the Juke in a new television campaign was a very real hint at the compact SUV's Australian future.

The Juke will arrive with more than a few new friends, including the new Altima, the big new Patrol and, detailed this week, the new Pulsar and Pulsar SSS models.

While the Juke's local arrival will come nearly three years on from its global debut, Nissan Australia boss William Peffer describes the little SUV as a "strong addition to our already-impressive SUV range".

“The Juke is a car that fits with our brand and has been highly anticipated in the Australian market for quite some time," Peffer said.

"I’m pleased to meet that anticipation with confirmation that the Juke will be turning heads on Australian roads from 2013.”

The Juke is currently sold in Europe, Japan, North America and New Zealand, with production lines in Oppama Japan and Washington, UK.

The Juke shares its platform with the previous-generation Micra, and measures just 4.13 metres long, riding on a 2.53 metre wheelbase.
