Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 Ready To Race

Nissan has revealed its new ready-to-race (and ready to order) GT-R GT3 car, the result of a collaboration between in-house tuning arm Nismo and GT1 GT-R veterans JR Motorsports.

The FIA-compliant GT3-spec Nismo GT-R made its debut at France's Magny-Cours last August, and now Nissan has announced global availability for teams and privateers.

Power for the new racer is provided by a track-toughened version of the twin-turbo 3.8 litre V6 that drives the roadgoing GT-R, producing the same 390kW and 612Nm delivered by the 2011 model.

FIA restrictions keep the racer from producing the same (or more) 405kW and 632Nm of the updated 2012 production car.

Unlike the 'regular' GT-R, the big six in the racing car is mated to a six-speed semi-automatic racing transmission, and the racer's overall weight is down to 1300kg - slashing around 400kg from the production model.

The Nismo GT-R GT3 gains the usual assortment of enhancements, including a stripped-out interior with roll cage and full racing seats, carbon-fibre everywhere, an overhauled aero kit and wide-open intakes and vents.

Nismo's new racer can be had for around 300,000 euros (AU$373,000), facing off against the likes of the Porsche GT3 R, BMW's Z4 GT3 and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
