Nissan has pulled the covers from its new Extrem concept at this week's Sao Paulo Motor Show, following a pair of teaser images released last week.

A collaborative project between Nissan's Californian and South American offices, the Extrem was built in Brazil to demonstrate the carmaker's commitment to emerging markets.

Strictly a design study, the Extrem is described as "an urban rally car, a tough little street fighter" styled to tackle the urban jungle of Brasília.

Does the Extrem also preview the next Juke? It might, but it's also a good deal smaller than the already compact Juke, and it's missing a pair of doors.

The Extrem is just 3850mm long, compared to the 4125mm Juke, and its 2450mm wheelbase also falls well short of the 2530mm footprint of its production stablemate.
