While both have introduced a bold new take on the familiar Maserati style, the overall look remains familiar. But, according to reports out of the US, that's all about to change.
Speaking with an unnamed insider, US website Edmunds reports that the next GranTurismo coupe, due in 2015, will debut a brand-new styling direction for the Italian marque.
Little else was revealed in the discussion, although some information on the new GranTurismo has come to light in recent months.
It is known that the new model will be smaller than its predecessor, swapping its relatively roomy four-seat configuration for a cosier 2+2 arrangement, similar to Jaguar's XK coupe.
The GranSport was initially believed to be a Maserati take on Alfa Romeo's new 4C, but more recent reports suggest a shortened version of the new GranTurismo's platform will underpin the GranSport.
And, While the 4C concept uses a 176kW 1.75 litre four-cylinder turbo engine, the GranSport will reportedly feature a Ferrari-developed turbo V6.
Watch for more information on both models to surface over the coming year, as Maserati repositions itself as a key player in the prestige market.
