The Renault Nissan Alliance has announced that production of the next-generation Micra will take place in France, with Renualt's facilities in Le Mans and Flins to be responsible for Nissan's new light hatchback.

The Le Mans facility will build chassis sub-assemblies while the Flins plant will be responsible for final assembly, with the plant capable of producing around 132,000 cars per year.

Last year the Flins plant produced 129,884 cars, and is currently responsible for building the Renault Clio and Zoe model lines.

But it's not immediately clear whether this means Australian sourcing for the Micra will shift to France.
